At Port Massaluca, we are launching a new series, \u00abWildwatching Matarra\u00f1a\u00bb, where we will showcase some of the most emblematic species that inhabit the waters at the mouth of the Matarra\u00f1a River in the Ebro. The clarity of these waters makes it an ideal site, at a European level, to see and study species such as the catfish, which are usually found in much murkier waters. During the month of September, 3 Japanese journalists conducted a study on catfish for the Japanese state television NHK and revealed to us that it is one of the best rivers for observing catfish, both while snorkeling and scuba diving. <\/p>\n
In the following episode, we show you the Black Bass in its natural habitat, a predatory and territorial fish that has made these waters an emblematic place for its fishing. Over the years, the appearance of other species, such as the zander or the perch fluviatis, and fishing pressure have made it a difficult fish to catch, with specimens becoming increasingly larger, like the official record obtained in the 2nd social of the Bass Mequinenza league by Juan Jos\u00e9 Moya of 3.954 Kg (view here<\/a>).
