Aminiakk fishing visits us!

Last March, we were visited by the famous French YouTuber Aminiakk fishing, whose channel has over 100,000 subscribers, along with his cameraman and fellow angler Walid. These popular French anglers wanted to see the famous fish of the Ebro River with their own eyes, which are found in the surroundings of the campsite.

When they arrived, their faces were beaming with happiness; it was clear they were surprised by the beauty and uniqueness of the place, very different from what they’re used to. They were amazed by nature in its most wild state, far from any city or agglomeration, as well as the picturesque landscape surrounding our facilities. Moreover, they were eager to discover the specimens hidden in these waters!

Their desire to go fishing was palpable in the air but, as we well know, a fishing trip goes beyond that. It involves experiencing the culture and gastronomy of the place you’re in, so before anything else, they took a walk to get to know the place and enjoyed a good meal at the campsite’s restaurant, accompanied by anecdotes of all kinds and, of course, lots of laughter.

From the first moment, we were impressed by their professionalism, both in terms of their recording equipment and the dedication and care they put into their work. Beyond being anglers, they are filmmakers, and it shows!

Over the past few weeks, the YouTuber Aminiakk fishing has been uploading videos narrating his stay at Port Massaluca to his YouTube channel, reaching a high number of views. Some of them have been watched (as of today) by more than 34,000 people!

The YouTuber Aminiakk fishing and his team had as their main objective fishing for zander and European perch, fish that are very capricious and sensitive to factors such as water temperature, luminosity, or weather conditions. As you could see in the videos, the fishing went quite well, despite the difficult weather conditions we encountered, both in terms of wind and low water temperatures (between 8 and 10 degrees). In these conditions, there is a technique that is very effective: vertical fishing.

Vertical fishing basically consists of making our lure swim (usually soft plastics) at a certain speed along the bottom, thus optimizing its effectiveness and being able to prospect several dozen meters of shoreline (or open waters) and thus entice fish that might not have been interested in our lure with another technique. Having a good fish finder greatly facilitates the work, as it allows us to have a clear idea of what the bottom is like, and where the fish or baitfish are located.

Our guide was able to observe during his fishing preparation prior to Aminiakk and Walid’s visit, that early in the morning (even before sunrise), some fish (usually of good size) tended to approach the shores in search of bleak and/or crayfish. As the light increased, they would return to the depths of these beautiful waters, which greatly influenced the fishing strategy they developed.

An unforgettable experience

After a week full of bites and catches, each one being a moment that will be forever etched in their minds, both Walid and Aminiakk conveyed to us, both in person and through their social networks, their gratitude for having lived a unique experience. Moreover, it wasn’t all about fishing; they also took time to rest and explore the beautiful and wild surroundings of Port Massaluca campsite, take some naps, and do a bit of sightseeing.
