There are multiple fishing techniques, although the most commonly used in our area are casting or spinning and pellet fishing.

FISHING EFFECTIVENESS ACCORDING TO THE MONTHS OF THE YEAR
Some describe it as exciting and violent; feeling the bite of one of these giants while holding the rod leaves many anglers breathless. The catfish usually bites within the first few seconds of the lure hitting the water, making it even more thrilling. Additionally, the equipment used with this technique is lighter, so the fight tends to last longer.
For spinning fishing, especially in the area we’re in, it’s most common to use a boat or fishing kayak. The idea is to cover all the areas where they typically move, making many casts until successful. Catfish tend to move around structures, shadows, and deep reed areas away from sunlight that bothers them. Their activity increases during sunset and at night.
Pellet fishing is characterized by attracting catfish to a baited area where rods are also prepared. Pellets are a type of ball made from fish, some come pre-drilled to pass the line through. It’s a less sporty and more relaxed fishing method than spinning, until the moment of the bite, when the frenzy begins. The bites are usually very spectacular as the rod is fixed and the line is taut. The equipment is usually stronger than for spinning, so it typically takes less time to land the catfish.
Near the campsite, there are several shore fishing areas with good access where you can catch impressive specimens (100 kg and 2.5 meters). However, pellet fishing has proven more effective in areas more overfished, as they are much more baited, causing catfish to get used to eating in the same spots daily. For this reason, we coordinate trips to Mequinenza (20 minutes from the campsite) for this type of fishing.
